Recently, the Torchia team had the privilege of addressing 30-plus diocesan directors of OPM Canada – les Œuvres pontificales missionnaires, known in English as the Pontifical Missions Society – at its semi-annual National Assembly in Montreal. Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Father Élie Hatangimbabazi, national director, OPM Rwanda, Bishop André Gazaille of the Diocese of Nicolet and the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi from Ottawa.
The presentation capped off some five months of planning for a renewed culture of communications at the charity that is devoted to promoting the missionary spirit of Canadian Catholics and supporting the poorer Churches on the planet.
Apart from working sessions on communications, highlights of the day included animated performances by singer/songwriter Pascal Gauthier, presentations from Yoland Ouellet, OMI, director of OPM Canada and lively stories about the CAM5 Missionary Cross, which is touring the country on its way to a missionary congress in Bolivia in 2018.
