Twenty years of success proves that organizations, big or small, gain competitive edge in finding the right advisors for their corporate and brand reputations.

Montreal, Que., July 14, 2020 – “Tell them what they need to know versus what they want to hear” – words to live by in the world of consultancy and often found rolling off the tongue of Jean-Claude Torchia, co-founder of Torchia Communications. Today, the proudly family-owned, full-service public relations and translations agency celebrates 20 years in business and the gratification of knowing that most of its clients have come to rely on the advice its consultants provide on behaviour – as well as words.

“What a journey it’s been,” said Jean-Claude Torchia, president of Torchia Communications. “I often reflect on how the industry has changed since the turn of the millennium.   Over the years, we have seen it evolve rapidly both in terms of importance in the marketing mix and in terms of awareness.  In today’s real-time world, it’s hard to imagine PR not playing a pivotal role in any organization. I’d like to tip my hat to our colleagues, our most important asset, and every single one of them who has contributed to our success over the years.  And of course, our clients who have entrusted us along the way and who continue to do so, some of whom since our inception.  We would not be where we are today without you and we look forward to continuing to serve this noble profession with pride and passion.”

In its first 20 years, Torchia has worked with a roster of more than 3,000 companies spanning virtually every industry, on campaigns that have extended past national boundaries, from Beijing to Reykjavík, Buenos Aires to Hope, B.C. While firmly engaged in strategic communication counsel, media relations, reputation and crisis management, content, and social media, table stakes in the profession, the company has become trusted advisors to an increasing number of its client-partners.

“Every communication effort requires careful research and reflection not only on the groups with whom we wish to communicate, but also an introspection with our clients,” says Daniel Torchia, APR, managing director and partner at Torchia Communications. “This type of discernment is important in every context, regardless of national boundaries or particular worldviews at play. Our approach to PR rests on solid foundations that have been taught in academic circles for years and has been proven in our experience to work exceedingly well. It requires some time to explain but, once it’s established, it yields the results that our clients are searching for. We thank all of our clients for embracing this style of ‘sustainable PR’ as it does, in fact, lead to a better future for them as well as their stakeholders. This is the kind of legacy we’re looking to establish.”

Torchia Communications Inc. was incorporated in July 2000 when Armand and Jean-Claude Torchia, in Montreal and London respectively, completed an amicable split from an international agency to take control of their own destinies. Four years later, Armand retired and Daniel and Michele Torchia became partners. Today, the firm which is owned and managed by the trio, also runs a successful, premium translation division, Centrik Translations.

“We take great pride in people and our human resources,” says Michèle Torchia.  “Our colleagues of seasoned and young practitioners share our aspirations, enthusiasm, passion and, are above all, viewed as members of our family.   All have an underlying passion to provide our clients with the best possible counsel and customer service in a work environment that helps them flourish.”

The sibling owners have woven their family values into every aspect of the business. Clients and staff alike are considered as members of the family forging long-term relationships that have endured and thrived through highs and lows.

As the agency looks to the future, with Public Relations more valued than ever, Torchia Communications strives to remain at the forefront of the global communications shift, evolving to new technologies while keeping its roots and family values intact.

Second-generation Public Relations consultants and entrepreneurs, Jean-Claude, Michele and Daniel Torchia, celebrate the 20th anniversary of their agency, Torchia Communications Inc.
